Friday Day 1 | Benvenuta in Italia : Welcome to Italy!
Welcome to Italia! Tonight you will rest in a beautifully restored historic hotel in the heart of Florence and relax after a long trip overseas. Regain your energies tonight to start the trip of a lifetime in one of the world’s most beautiful cities! No meals.
Saturday Day 2 | Buongiorno Signorina!
Enjoy a morning walking tour through the historical streets of Florence, guided by an expert local guide who will show you the main sites, churches, buildings, and shopping areas of this marvelous “outdoor museum”. Private drivers will pick you up in the Florence Hotel lobby at 4pm, from where you’ll be taken to the villa. Relax with a walk around the property to get acquainted with your breath-taking surroundings of the Tuscan hills covered by cypresses, vines, and olive trees. Enjoy a Welcome “Benvenuto!” dinner with other fellow travelers and traditional Tuscan specialties prepared by the Villa’s Chef, with your first sip of the villa’s own Chianti wine! Optional excursion to a popular nightclub! BD
Sunday Day 3 | Di Terra e Mare
Our amazing day begins in a small town by Lake Trasimeno, Castiglione del Lago, where you can shop for tasty local delicacies and enjoy a lunch “al fresco” in a historic trattoria by the lake. Then to Cortona, the charming Etruscan hilltop town where “Under the Tuscan Sun” was filmed. Its massive 3,000 year-old walls are still standing! Enjoy some free time and have a gelato as you mingle with the locals, explore the intricate alley ways, or sit back at a coffee shop. Tonight we’ll dine in a family run restaurant within the historical center of Arezzo, where the Academy-Award winner “Life is beautiful” was filmed, also very famous for its antique shops. The church of San Francesco holds Piero della Francesca’s lifetime masterpiece frescoes. BLD
Monday Day 4 | Vino Amore mio
Morning drive through the soft-shaped, serene hills of Chianti, with a stop in one of its most picturesque villages: Montefioralle. Then enjoy an extraordinary experience in an 11th-Century Castle. A sommelier will take us on a journey into the finest Chianti Classico paired with an abundant Tuscan luncheon. Then a little shopping and gelato in Greve in Chianti is a must before we head back to the villa. Relaxing afternoon on your own by the pool or a quiet walk in nature. Cooking class at the villa followed by dinner with regional specialties and wine. BLD
Tuesday Day 5 | Buon Appetito!
Pienza, considered the “Jewel of the Renaissance”, will be our first stop in Southern Tuscany, where you can admire gorgeous views of the countryside and savor the area’s well known Pecorino cheese. Visit the town of Pope Pius II with lunch in local trattoria and free time on your own. Then on to Montepulciano, where we’ll stop at one of Italy’s oldest wine cellars, then enjoy some free time to explore. This town
is known for the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, one of Italy’s most refined red wines, which we’ll know more about a lovely family-owned winery. Meet the welcoming family who will show us around and prepare a home made dinner. BLD
Wednesday Day 6 | Alla Salute!
Check-out from Villa and get ready to move to the coast! Transfer by private car to Bolgheri, an ancient village situated in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, famous for the Viale dei Cipressi (Boulevard of Cypresses). This area, cultivated with vines and olive trees, is also very known for its highly valued ‘Super-Tuscan’ wines, where grow on softly-shaped hills, gently caressed by the zesty sea breeze. Light lunch at a local family-owned farm, visiting its ‘frantoio’ (olive mill) and learning about one of Italy’s most prized productions. Afternoon & dinner at B&B. BLD
Thursday Day 7 | Le Terre Incantate : The Enchanted Lands
Morning departure to the fascinating Cinque Terre, five fishing villages that have become a World Heritage protected site, and a legacy left by man’s enduring spirit of adaptation to nature’s erratic forces, and the strenuous reliance on sea and land for survival. We’ll visit the 3 most beautiful of the “Five Hamlets” built into sheer rocky coast, a small strip of roughly edged mountains dropping dramatically into the sea. With a local guide we’ll make our first stop in picturesque Rio Maggiore,
from which we’ll walk along the mountainside’s “Via dell’Amore” all the way to Manarola. Enjoy some free time for lunch & to explore. Then we continue onto Vernazza by train. Whether permitting, we’ll visit Portovenere by boat, admiring from the sea these amazingly impervious fishermen’s villages.
Free time in Portovenere. Dinner in Forte de’ Marmi on your own. B
Friday Day 8 | La Dolce Vita
Relaxing day at the B&B or laying by the beach. Cooking class & dinner in a family-owned trattoria. Evening in Viareggio for some exciting nighlife! BD
Saturday Day 9 | Fra Terra e Mare
San Gimignano, our first stop, is an absolutely astonishing example of walled Medieval hilltop town, also known for its dry white wine, Vernaccia and its colorful local crafts: hand-painted pottery, olive wood items, and many more. Enjoy plenty of free time in this “shopping central” and lunch on your own. Stop in Volterra, an Etruscan town known for the exquisite production of alabaster, a local white stone similar to marble. Free time in the afternoon and group dinner in a family trattoria on the way back. BD
Sunday Day 10 | Avventura Romantica
Check-out from the B&B and group departure to Lucca, the charming town completely surrounded by massive walls, on top of which lay a greenway adorned with secular trees. Enjoy some free time to explore the winding streets, the beautiful churches, and the circular “Piazza Anfiteatro”, famous for being built over an ancient Roman Arena. Group lunch in a historical Lucca restaurant. Check-in at hotel in Florence - tonight will be the last night of the tour - make it memorable! The friendly staff will gladly make reservations for dinner. BL
