Music Selections

Elisa Elisa Style: Electronica/Pop/Light Rock
She has an absolutely amazing voice, songs that jump from experimental electronic sounds to light soft rock, but catchy nonetheless. You may want to take a note that eccept for one album, she mostly sings in English. I still don't understand why she's not on the top of the charts here, because again, she sings in English.
Comparable to: Alanis Morrisette.

Eros Ramazzotti Eros Ramazzotti Style: Pop
Eros has been around for over 20 years and has become one of the most exported Italian singers, as is Laura Pausini. He's very popular in Latin America and has recorded many albums in Spanish.
Comparable to: Rob Thomas meets Lionel Richie, who ran into Bruce Springsteen.

Gigi D'Alession Gigi D'Alessio Style: Pop/Classical
He's a toned-down, pop version of Andrea Bocelli. This Napolitan sings his heart out and appeals to a romantic, nostalgic crowd.
Comparable to: Michael Bolton meets Andrea Bocelli.

Ligabue Ligabue Style: Alternative Rock
This group is very popular among the younger crowds, his style is a hearty-rock which to me, in a way reminds me of rugged country rock.
Comparable to: 3 Doors Down and Nickelback.

Madreblu Madreblu Style: Electronica/Pop
Soothing voice of the female singer and upbeat tunes make Madreblu one of my favorites. Loungy, easy-listening electronic music make this band the perfect choice for an evening cocktail party.
Comparable to: Enya meets Abba.

Max Gazzé Max Gazzé Style: Pop
It's hard to describe his style, but he's so particular that he's considered an experimental artist whose poetic lyrics and almost sarcastic messages about politics, life, and relationships make you think while you're listening. Very particular style, but definitely easy listening.

Pino Daniele Pino Daniele Style: Pop/Acoustic Guitar
The Napolitan singer's smooth, bluesy style appeals to both youngsters as well as a more mature audience. His humble music is sweet and romantic.
Comparable to: Michael McDonald meets Toquino.

Subsonica Subsonica Style: Electronica/pop-rock
Another hard one to describe... truly unique in their style, their music is mostly electronic and experimental with a touch of disco, but pleasant and uncomplicated.
Comparable to: Black-Eyed Peas with a more techno-ish twist.

Tiziano Ferro Tiziano Ferro Style: Pop
He's only been around for a couple of years, with several major hits that made him become a major pop icon for teens. Catchy tunes.
Comparable to: Justin Timberlake

Vasco Rossi Vasco Rossi Style: Classic Rock
This guy has been in the rock scene for over 25 years, filling up stadiums just as much as U2, appealing to the young and blue-collar audience. You either love him or hate him with his rugged, scruffy looks and rough, no frill musical style.

Zucchero Zucchero Style: Blues/Rock
He's been around since the early '80s and has become an international phenomenon, becoming one of Pavarotti's "best-friends", and singing duets with other internationally known artists such as Sting, Sheryl Crow, Celine Dion, etc.
Comparable to: Joe Cocker meets the Blues Brothers

Giorgia Giorgia
She's got one of the most beautiful voices in contemporary Italian pop. Unfortunately some of her songs got a little too "blues-y" to appeal to the masses, but great performance nonetheless.
Comparable to: blues-y Celine Dion

Like many other major Italian singers, she started out with the famous music competition "San Remo" held every winter in the northern Italian city by the same name. After winning, she started making album after album, with catchy tunes that appeal to many.
