"That's Amore!" Valentine's Cooking Class with Charlotte Culinary Expert Heidi Billotto and Nada Vergili of Nada's Italy February 11 and 12, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm
Join Charlotte culinary expert Heidi Billotto and Nada Vergili of Nada's Italy. A fun Valentine's Day inspired cooking class that turns into an incredibly romantic Italian dinner - with delicious dishes and Italian wines. Heidi and Nada will cook as we talk about how Italians love romance with entertaining "pillow talk" Italian-style!!

Italian Social Club: eat, drink, LIVE ITALIAN! It's that time again!!! The Italian Social Club and The Good Eats & Meets Group are getting together to eat some amazing food AGAIN!
Special thanks to Dan Gibby for donating his house once again for this fun gathering. Join us for our annual Italian Cook-Off and show everyone how good your Mamma's sauce really is!! Get ready for an afternoon of delectable non-stop food and wine to indulge your taste buds! Show off your best Italian recipes or favorite home made dessert and enter to win amazing CASH prizes!! AND IT'S ALL IN THE NAME OF FOOD AND FUN! Either bring Food OR Wine... no need to bring both unless you want to. Let's keep it balanced so we have enough of both for everyone. IF YOU ARE ENTERING A DISH IN THE COOK-OFF select a category below and include the details in your RSVP (or email me): 1. BEST ANTIPASTO or SOUP or APPETIZER 2. BEST PASTA or ENTREE 3. BEST DESSERT We will be having a Winner and a Runner-Up for each category (both will win CASH prizes, the value will vary depending on attendance) so give it your best shot!! IF YOU ARE NOT BRINGING FOOD: Bring 2 bottles of wine (and other beverages optional) for everyone to enjoy. (We will be checking the wine in at the door, so make sure to bring your 2 bottles). RULES FOR CONTESTANTS: Make enough food for as many people to taste as you can (remember, each person who tries your dish will be voting so the more you make, the more people get to try it and vote on it!). Ideally, make at least 20-30 sample portions. Bring your own tray and/or serving utensils. A full service kitchen is available if you need to heat or refrigerate any food at the last minute. Please keep in mind, however, that the food should be prepared at home as space is very limited. Please be at the venue by 12pm to set up. Winners will be announced around 3:00pm. This is a casual, non-structured gathering for students of all levels. If you'd like to join in on the conversation, speak up! If you don't, then just come to socialize and practice your listening and comprehension abilities. This gathering is not a class, just come to practice and enjoy the company of students who are as eager to learn as you are. Captured live on November 8, 2011, LEONARDO LIVE provides a virtual walk-through of the exhibit, with exclusive commentary from scholars and curators. Hosted by highly respected art historian Tim Marlow and presenter Mariella Frostrup, the exhibition brings together the largest number of da Vinci’s rare surviving painting and some international loans. While numerous exhibitions have looked at da Vinci as an inventor, scientist or draughtsman, this is the first to be dedicated to his aims and techniques as a painter. She's been organizing tours of Italy for over eight years, as well as providing essential travel advice through her website, online videos, group classes, and private travel consultations. She's appeared many times on the local TV show "Charlotte Today" and has given dozens of travel presentations on Italy at Borders bookstores, AAA Carolinas, Italian clubs, and many other local clubs and organizations.
